For decades, Arvig has been a trusted telecommunications provider in Wabasso and across Redwood County, delivering essential internet, phone, and television services to homes and businesses. While technology continues to evolve, Arvig’s commitment to the communities it serves remains steadfast. With a local office in downtown Wabasso, Arvig is not just a service provider—it’s a dedicated partner in the town’s economic growth, education, and connectivity.
Arvig’s office in Wabasso provides residents with easy, in-person access to customer service, technical support, and sales assistance. This physical presence allows the company to better understand and address the unique needs of the community, something that larger, remote providers often lack. The Wabasso office is staffed by six employees, including customer service representatives and field technicians, ensuring that support is readily available when needed.
Beyond offering reliable internet and phone services, Arvig’s impact extends far beyond connectivity. The company is an active contributor to local organizations, including the Wabasso Fire Department, Wabasso Lions Club, and Wabasso Public Schools. Through its School Partnership Program, Arvig customers can opt to have a portion of their monthly internet bill donated directly to local schools, providing critical funding for technology, equipment, and educational programs.
Recognizing the growing need for high-speed internet, Arvig is spearheading a major fiber-optic expansion project across Redwood County. With a $1.3 million state grant from the Minnesota Border-to-Border Broadband Development Program, combined with private and local investment, Arvig is investing a total of $4.4 million to bring high-speed fiber internet to eight communities, including Wabasso. This project will provide high-speed service to over 1,800 previously unserved or underserved locations, significantly improving internet access for homes and businesses.
The new fiber network will allow for internet speeds between 100 Mbps and 10 Gbps, exceeding Minnesota’s 2026 broadband speed goals and ensuring that rural communities are equipped with world-class connectivity.
Construction of the fiber network is nearing completion in most of the targeted cities, with final installations wrapping up in Morgan by mid-March. Residents in Wabasso and neighboring towns have already begun experiencing the benefits of this upgraded infrastructure, with increased reliability, faster speeds, and improved service options.
However, bringing fiber to rural areas comes with challenges, including obtaining permits, underground construction, and navigating the hurdles of working in less densely populated areas. Arvig has worked closely with Redwood County officials to ensure a smooth rollout, using both state funding and county support to make high-speed broadband more accessible and affordable for local residents.
As more people rely on the internet for remote work, health visits, streaming, and education, Arvig’s investment in fiber technology ensures that Wabasso and the surrounding region stay connected and competitive in an increasingly digital world.
