Notice to all residents. The City Council has received a number of inquiries regarding the planting of trees on or near the boulevard. The Council understands the importance and benefit of the “urban canopy” but also recognizes the type of species and placement of trees is equally important. Planting the wrong type of trees or planting trees too close to the curb or sidewalk can have negative impacts. Therefore, the city requires all owners to seek permission from the city before planting trees within the public right of way (typically 10 – 15′ behind the curb) and requests that owners plant trees a minimum of 20′ from the curb.
